Confirmation / OCIA Information
Confirmation
Confirmation in the St. Cloud diocese is typically celebrated in 11th grade (or older). Students attend weekly formation classes to prepare for this important Sacrament, which is a sealing of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit given at Baptism, and which strengthens each person to better live out their Christian faith.
Preparation includes participation in a Confirmation retreat, a meeting with Father, meetings with their sponsor, and the liturgies that are part of Confirmation prep (Rite of Calling in the fall and the Sacrament of Confirmation in the spring).
Adults who would like to prepare for Confirmation also meet regularly in a weekly adult sacramental preparation class.
Please contact your parish Faith Formation Director for more information.
The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA)
RCIA is the process by which an adult or child above the age of reason (usually age 7 or 2nd grade) is brought into the Catholic Church, through Baptism, First Holy Communion, and/or Confirmation. Through this process the adult or older child is formed in the Christian faith, with Catholics from the local parish community serving as both catechists and models.
Contact your Sacramental Preparation Coordinator/Faith Formation Director for more information on how you can join the classes, and with any questions about your specific situation.
